Understanding your calculation
Method, example and limitations
How the calculation works
Pace divides elapsed time by distance, while speed divides distance by time. A minutes-per-kilometer value is a duration for each kilometer, not kilometers per hour.
Example to check
Running 5 km in 30 minutes gives a pace of 6:00 per km and an average speed of 10 km/h.
Before using the result
Use elapsed or moving time consistently. Terrain, stops and route measurement affect real performance, and projected race times assume comparable conditions.
