Understanding your calculation
Method, example and limitations
How the calculation works
A generated password is stronger when its characters come from a suitable random source and it is long enough for the intended account. Length matters more than adding a predictable pattern.
Example to check
With 12 independently chosen characters from 26 equally likely letters, the theoretical space is 26¹² possibilities. A predictable phrase does not automatically achieve that space.
Before using the result
Use a unique password for each account and store it in a trusted password manager. Do not submit generated passwords through calculator feedback or shared URLs.
