Predicted Adult Height

5' 10.1" (178.1 cm)

68% Confidence Band 5' 8.1" – 6' 0.1" 173 – 183.1 cm
Mid-Parental Target 5' 9.5" 176.5 cm
Adult Percentile 63.5th % CDC Adult Male
Growth Remaining +29.1" +73.9 cm

How Height Prediction Works

Child height prediction combines the Tanner Mid-Parental Height Method (adjusting for biological sex difference of 5 inches / 13 cm) with the Khamis-Roche developmental growth model based on current bone maturation and CDC growth curves.

  • Boys Formula: (Father's Height + Mother's Height + 5 inches) ÷ 2
  • Girls Formula: (Father's Height + Mother's Height − 5 inches) ÷ 2
  • Confidence Interval: Most healthy children reach an adult height within ±2 inches (±5 cm) of this predicted mid-parental genetic target.

Understanding your calculation

Method, example and limitations

How the calculation works

Height conversion expresses the same length in different units. One inch equals exactly 2.54 cm, and one foot contains 12 inches.

Example to check

Five feet ten inches is 70 inches, or 177.8 cm.

Before using the result

A feet-and-inches entry is not a decimal-feet entry. For example, 5.10 feet does not mean five feet ten inches.
