Understanding your calculation
Method, example and limitations
How the calculation works
A handicap estimate uses scores and course difficulty settings rather than simply averaging strokes over par. Preserve the rating, slope and scoring conventions required by the selected method.
Example to check
Two identical raw scores on courses with different slope ratings need not produce identical score differentials.
Before using the result
Official handicaps depend on current governing-body rules, eligible rounds and adjustments. This tool is an estimate and cannot issue an official handicap index.
