Understanding your calculation
Method, example and limitations
How the calculation works
Energy use in kWh equals power in kW multiplied by operating hours. Cost multiplies energy use by the price per kWh.
Example to check
A 1,000 W device running for two hours uses 2 kWh. At 0.20 per kWh, the energy charge is 0.40.
Before using the result
Duty cycles, standby power and variable tariffs can change cost. Fixed charges and taxes may not be included, and rated power is not always actual average draw.
